Recently purchased a flat screen mounting bracket for use during virtual magic shows. Lets me attach a flat screen monitor to a speaker stand. My speaker stands have been sitting idle these days due to the pandemic so it’s great to be able to use one in this way.
This arrangement allows for a larger Zoom screen full of birthday party kids right under the web cam. I’m hoping this will enhance eye contact during magic shows. I won’t have to make sideways glances away from the lens to see kids names. I made a short review video about this item so I hope it helps someone.

‘Silly’ fun for your 3-6 age range munchkins…
Got some wee ones at home? You could a lot do worse than this charming video by Bri Crabtree. I don’t know her personally but we’re both in some of the same performer’s groups on Facebook.
Silly Circus Show is aimed at younger kids, 3-6 age range, and runs about 40 minutes. Very gentle pacing and a wonderful variety of visuals to keep ’em engaged. Silly fun? It’s so much more than that. Please enjoy this highly skilled artist!
Shaw Fest-on-the-Home-Front — Stuff to do #19
Love the Shaw Festival. See at least one production every season and one of their long standing actors, Jay Turvey, worked along side me in a grocery store when we were teens. No visits this year alas. Most of their 2020 season has been cancelled as of this writing but hope abounds for 2021…
In the meantime they have produced a wonderful collection of ‘Home Front’ content for patrons and friends to enjoy.
You can find a range of fun videos here including (gasp!) a pretty good magic trick! Shaw’s email list is worthy of your attention.
My virtual library show — Stuff to do #18
OK, pardon me for blowing my own horn but here’s a link to a fun ‘virtual magic show I did for for a long time client Oshawa Public libraries.
Runs about 30 minutes. It’s on their Facebook page so you’ll need to be logged in to FB to see it. Here’s the link. Enjoy!

Podcast for kids! — Stuff to do #14
I’m a big fan of podcasts. Been an avid listener for about 8 years. Here’s an fun choice for families with kids…
Story Pirates is a great podcast which takes stories from kids and brings them to life as ‘radio’ plays. (Am I mixing genres when I say radio plays?!) They even toss in the odd joke or two for the big kids.
Explore their website. Much more than just the podcast to check out.
