A ‘grand’ little theatre…!

Most of my shows are in private homes, rental halls, school gyms, rec centres or library program rooms.

Once in a while something unique comes along like this past weekend when I was part of the family matinee shows during the Ontario Week of Wonder festival in Fergus, Ontario.

The Fergus Grand Theatre is a sweet little room on the main drag in Fergus. Seats about 250 and was about 75% full for our OWoW family friendly afternoon shows.

If you’re ever in the neighbourhood to see a show the beautiful Elora Gorge Conservation area is just down the road. There are some lovely restaurant options near the theatre too.

Cool Public Shows for the Family

I’m pleased to be a part of the Ontario Week of Wonder (OWOW!) being held in beautiful Fergus Ontario at the end of October.

There will be a Canadian Stars of Magic Show on Friday Night, Oct 25th, and an International Stars Show on Saturday night, Oct 26th.


Two of the Friday evening performers, Carisa Hendrix and Nicholas Wallace, have appeared on Penn & Teller’s Fool Us.

Nick also appeared on America’s Got Talent.


On Thursday evening, Oct 24th, world travelling (and Fergus resident) entertainer Ryan Joyce will be performing his comedy hypnosis show.

As part of OWOW there will also be other events in local restaurants and some Halloween related shenanigans as well.

Oh!, and it’s a, cough, cough, big Oh! on Saturday (26th) and Sunday (27th) afternoon at 2:00 pm I, Magical Mr. Oh! (see what I did there…?) along with another fine family performer, Peter Mennie, will be presenting a family friendly show for the kids.

Bunny Cupcakes

Instead of a cake the birthday mom for this 6 year old boy’s party made bunny cupcakes to compliment her ‘magician’ theme decorations. The ears are split marshmallows pressed into coloured sugar. The eyes and teeth are ready-made confections from a store.
If these bunnies look a little nervous I think it’s because they know what’s about to happen to them. Mmmm!

Rabbit Dog!

A ‘rabbit dog’ beats a ‘rabid dog’ every time! This family’s very chill mutt wanted in on the action at a recent birthday party gig. Usually we just take souvenir pictures of the kids looking like a bunny but, hey, if the family pupper cooperates an extra magical birthday memory results. Too funny!

Crafty Turtles…

Structured activities make a great addition to birthday parties. At a ‘ninja turtle’ theme birthday party the kids all made their own ninja turtle head. The rest of the TMNT party supplies, paper plates, decorations, etc., were store bought but there was a dozen or so of these fun balloon heads made by the kids in the mix.
The kids took their craft home after the party too.
