Birthday Party Questions? Everybody has them. Feel free to ask yours when you contact me.
In the meantime here are answers to some frequently asked questions…
How long is your show?
–The magic show typically runs 35-40 minutes followed by photos.
Budget about 45-50 minutes total for my part of your party.
How much does it cost?
–Current birthday party pricing can be found here.
Pricing noted is for a typical in-home kid birthday party magic show. If you are planning anything else I’ll need more info and pricing may change.
How far ahead should I book it?
–Booking 6-8 weeks ahead usually gets you your desired day & time slot. If you are booking on shorter notice I can normally help you but you may need to be a bit more flexible about your magic show start time.
What ages do you perform birthday magic shows for?
–Most of my birthday shows are for kids in 6-7-8-9 age range.
However, show content can be adjusted for age 5 and under or age 10 and up.
Can we do multiple birthday kids?
–Yes. If you have twins, or are combining family birthdays for siblings & cousins, both birthday kids will be featured.
My birthday child is shy, how do you handle this?
–Shy birthday kids will get involved to the degree they are comfortable.
If they decline when asked to assist I ask them to pick someone to participate as their proxy. Once they see other kids having fun they often relax and want to participate.
What do you need from us?
–I bring everything ‘magical’ needed for your child’s birthday magic show but would appreciate a simple stool or chair be made available. Something easy to move around like examples in this photo.
Also need at least one responsible adult family member in the room at all times during the show. I’m not a babysitter.

Do you make balloon animals?
–No.
Do you do face painting?
–No.
Do you have testimonials & reviews?
–Yes. There are some scattered throughout this website as well as on separate pages here and here.
We have a small home, can you still do your show?
–Yes. I can adapt to most every household as long as the kids are comfortable. Often just moving the coffee table out of the family room gives us all the extra space we may need.
Can you do your show outdoors?
–Yes, but you will always get a better show indoors.
To give you the best possible outdoor show keep us away from pool side activities, noisy bouncy house air blowers, a smoky BBQ grill or other food & drink table temptations.
The weather can be a factor as well. Sudden temperature swings caused wind or cloud movements can make kids feel chilly on an otherwise ideal day.
Also your neighbour might decide to cut his lawn during your party!
Can you do your show at a community recreation centre?
–Yes. What I do for you needs about 45 uninterrupted minutes, no food or drink service, so kindly factor that into your rec centre room rental scheduling.
Please note I bring a sound system to rec centre parties. There’s a small additional charge for this but in these larger spaces with more kids, adults and noise it’s needed.
Can you do your show at an indoor playland?
–You usually don’t need outside entertainment like me at an indoor playland, bowling alley, trampoline gym or similar location. There’s enough fun stuff going on there already. Kids won’t want to stop playing for a sit down show and I don’t blame them.
Can kids eat during show?
–Not recommended. My show is very interactive. Kids busy with food and drinks can’t fully participate. Drinks spill and food gets dropped. Best to plan around this as it’s quite a distraction.
In some cultures it’s common practice to eat while watching. Please consider making an exception, at least for the kids, during your magic show.
How far will you travel?
–As a practical matter I do most of my birthday party magic shows in Hamilton, Burlington and surrounding communities.
I will travel further on occasion but birthday pricing you may have seen on this website will not apply.
Do you do adult birthdays?
–Yes, but selectively. My performing style is a suitable choice for mature adults and seniors. Good for 60 and up crowd but not so much for 25 year olds. Just being honest!
Is there any profanity in your show?
–No. My magic shows are squeaky clean family friendly fun. No worries about inappropriate content or language.
Do you use playing cards in your magic show?
–Sometimes but optional. If your faith traditions eschew playing cards it’s a simple matter to replace such routines. Just mention this when booking.
Occasionally I use alphabet or animal theme cards but there’s never been objections to these.
